Here are some possible problems and solutions you might need when using SpaceAlert. I was hoping you would never have to read this but here it goes…
* If you have a great deal of Fonts and Apple Menu items and volumes mounted the standard memory partition size of 95K might not be enough to use the Setup Console when you run SpaceAlert. The program takes considerably less memory when it's running in the background so what you can do is increase the partition size while you set up the program's preferences and then quit, restore the original size and run it again.
* If you want to restore the original preferences for the program take the "SpaceAlert 2.0 Settings" file out of the Preferences folder in your System folder and run SpaceAlert. The program will behave as if you were running it for the first time.
* If the information displayed in the bar is in an order you don't like, go into the Display dialog in the Setup Console and be sure to enable the checkboxes in the order in which you'd like the information displayed. Often people overlook the fact that the program will remember the order in which they selected the display options and they wind up with a horrible-looking display.
* If you see parenthesis around some volumes it means that they were mounted from the network.
* If you'd like to tidy the display a bit or monitor only 1 volume, the "One-Liners" option in the Display dialog might be just what you need.
* If you want to reactivate warnings that have already been issued without having to quit SpaceAlert, go into the Warning dialog and press the Done button.
* If a warning is not being triggered it is probably because it is being excluded in the Exclusion dialog because its name is in the list or because another attribute is blocking the warning.
* If you only get 20 volumes returned in a FindServers search, you've hit the list limit. I thought that 20 would be plenty but if you need more contact me to provide you with a modified version of the program which has a higher limit.
* If names in the display bar appear to be gibberish, use the Abbreviation dialog and be sure the filters make sense. Read the Balloon Help to guide you through the dialog.
* If you still can't figure out what your problem is, contact me and I'll be happy to help you, even if you haven't paid the shareware fee. Look in the manual or the program's "About..." box for contact info.
